About The Southsea Workbench

The Southsea Workbench is situated in the heart of Southsea  at 114 Waverly Road just off Albert Road, a ten minute walk from the sea front.

Opening in April 2012 the Southsea Workbench will be a professional jewellery workshop with the facilities to teach up to eight students at a time.  We will be offering regular evening classes and short day courses, as well as one day taster and two day courses.

The courses will be aimed at being supportive while teaching techniques to allow students to develop their own ideas at their own pace.

Introductory levels will cover all the basics for general metal based jewellery covering sawing soldering, forming and finishing.  These skills will allow students to go on and experiment with techniques ranging from forging and etching to setting stones and chain making.

We are also hoping to include some short  one day courses covering beading, reclaimed jewellery and jewellery made from other materials.

Benches will also be available for hire on certain days for those who have experience and would like to be able to use the workshop to complete their own work without instruction.
